She served as the first woman Chief Executive Officer (Interim President) of an Ivy League University from July 1, 1993 to June 30, 1994.

Dr Fagin has received 10 honorary degrees, numerous awards and medals, and has written or edited 10 books and more than 90 articles. She has served and continues to serve on many corporate boards and not for profit boards, and as a consultant to foundations and other groups.
