Welcome to our website! Our goal is to convey what is happening within the Building Academic Geriatric Nursing Capacity Program by highlighting the accomplishments of our scholars, fellows and alumni, as well as the exciting collaborative activities of the outstanding Hartford Centers of Geriatric Nursing Excellence. We hope you find the information on this site to be useful in helping you and/or your institution to move forward in geriatric nursing. Please feel free to contact any of the Coordinating Center staff for assistance. To date a total of 174 awards (70 fellowships and 104 scholarships) have supported the development of academic geriatric nurses in areas of research, scholarship and leadership. Scholars and fellows come from across the U.S. in 35 states and the District of Columbia. While we are pleased with the many accomplishments of this program we are even more excited by the future promised by the resources now in place - larger numbers of geriatric nursing faculty; strengthened geriatric nursing leadership through regional networks; nation-wide improvements in elder care through collaborative Hartford Centers of Geriatric Nursing Excellence (HCGNEs) initiatives; expanded geriatric nursing capacity through new partnerships; and increased awareness of geriatric issues and best practices through dissemination of this work. |
