2003 Scholars

The John A. Hartford Foundation Awards $2.05 Million in Scholarships to Geriatric Nursing Scholars

The John A. Hartford Foundation's Building Academic Geriatric Nursing Capacity program selected 22 nurse scholars for the 2003 - 2005 Scholars Program. The11 Predoctoral and 9 Postdoctoral Scholars were chosen in a national competition as part of the nation - wide Hartford Foundation initiative aimed at building academic geriatric nursing capacity. Each scholar receives up to $100,000 ($50,000 per year for two years) to support his or her studies in geriatric nursing. They join two previous cohorts selected in 2001 and 2002.

In addition, 2 MBA Scholars were selected in March 2003. These nurses wish to pursue a business degree, anticipating a career focus on the management/leadership of institutions serving the elderly. Each scholar receives a total of $50,000 to support their study at a highly ranked school of business.
